Suitable for complete beginners and those more experienced makers looking to inject a little colour into their work.
These workshops are an introduction into the colouring and decoration of anodised aluminium for use in jewellery making or craft objects. During a one or two day workshops students will learn about the anodising process and will learn through demonstrations and experimentation about colouring medium and techniques to apply to anodised aluminium.
One-day Workshop
A one-day workshop offers the chance to learn some of the basics of colouring aluminium using a selection of dyes and inks in a selection of beautiful colours. Students will colour aluminium and create a simple piece of jewellery in one day
During a one-day students will learn about:

The types of colouring medium
Dip-dyeing
Direct application Block printing
Resists
Sealing
Simple jewellery making techniques
Students can expect to make a bangle and a pendant within the day.
Two-day Workshop
During a two-day workshop students will learn all that is included in a one-day workshop along with some more advanced colouring processes.
At a two-day workshop students will learn about:

Collage printing
Mono-printing
Lino-cuts
Roller printing Additional resists, including photocopy transfers
Stripping back
Students will be shown some more advanced assembly techniques including riveting, and can expect to make two to three finished pieces of jewellery.
