WORKSHOP - Introducing Colour : Anodised Aluminium
Date: 12 & 13 February 2026
Time: 10am - 4pm
Location: In the Studio - Farley, near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Cost: £260 including all workshop materials and equipment.
Anodised Aluminium is a fascinating and versatile material. Aluminium is not only lightweight, hard wearing and durable, but once anodised it can also be readily decorated in a myriad of ways through the creative application of dyes, inks and resists.
Join me for this thorough introduction to colouring anodised aluminium. Learn about the material itself whilst creating colourful samples using dyes, inks, mark-making and resist techniques.
Let me guide you through preparing dyes, block colour, over-dyeing, colour interaction, a myriad of application methods, detailing with inks, the use of resists to mask off areas. We will look at how to plan a surface design specifically for anodised aluminium and the steps required to achieve it. I will talk through problem solving. Whilst this workshop is predominantly about colouring, we will also touch on some ideas and thoughts on making with aluminium and you will have the opportunity to make a simple piece of jewellery.
This is a hands-on workshop, focusing on discovery and a catalyst for you to start your own journey with colour on aluminium. Suitable for jewellers, makers, designers, students and educators, beginners or those wishing to refresh their knowledge.
Farley is located approx 15 minutes from Salisbury City Centre. Please get in touch if you require any suggestions for accommodation or will require transport from the train station.
