COLOURED ALUMINIUM
Anodised Aluminium is a fascinating and versatile material. Aluminium is not only lightweight, hard wearing and durable, but once anodised it can also be readily decorated in a myriad of ways through the creative application of dyes, inks and resists.
TEACHING
For over twenty years it’s been a joy to share my passion for colourful aluminium through workshops and as a visiting tutor and lecturer. I like to create a relaxed environment where the emphasis is on playfulness and discovery. Whilst I guide students with demonstrations and practical advice, each aspect of the course serves as a springboard for individuals to experiment and develop their own visual language. I support each student, to allow them to build on their skills and confidence whilst exploring this fascinating and limitless subject. 'Coloured Aluminium Jewellery: design & make' was published in 2010. This was a wonderful opportunity to bring together all of the research, experimentation and educational projects I had undertaken during the first decade of my jewellery practice. There is always more to learn, there are more techniques to be discovered and innovative adaptations to be made within this relatively young field of work and it's a wonderful and enjoyable journey to be a part of.
