FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENCE

An exhibition curated by Kathie Murphy and originally shown at ATELIER BESIDE THE SEA in Brighton.

21 jewellers arranged in a chain, each maker tasked to commission a piece from the next by sending an object to inspire or be incorporated.

I was entrusted with a bundle of precious letters from Scottish jeweller, Carla Edwards. Snippets from a conversation between Carla and her dear Grandfather. The resulting brooch features excerpts from Carla’s grandfather’s letters and memories of times spent together in his garden. As he said himself - "Nothing beats the written word."

Materials: Layered printed and dyed anodised aluminium, oxidised silver, nephrite jade, silk thread and steel pin.
